Waverly Band

This weekend, Waverly  hosted the OMEA District 16 Honor Band Festival at Waverly High School. We welcomed nearly 200 junior high and high school students from our 6-county district and their directors. Students who participated rehearsed from 5-9pm on Friday and 10am-5pm on Saturday with two amazing guest conductors. Dr. Shelley Jagow, director of bands at Wright State University, led the high school group. Mr. Matt Spradlin, band director at Wilmington High School, led the junior high group. After a little more than 24 hours of playing together for the first time, both groups presented an amazing concert this evening! It was a great weekend of music-making and we are proud of all our Waverly students who participated!!

Thank you to the Waverly City Schools administration for allowing us to host this event, to the Waverly Band Boosters for all their work in sponsoring the event, to Mr. Patterson, Mr. Balusik, Mr. Lummer, and Mr. Huffman, plus all of our District 16 band directors for all their help, and to all the parents and band supporters who donated concession items or worked the food line!

Music is alive and well at Waverly City Schools and we are proud to be an ambassador for music education through hosting this wonderful event.
