Waverly Jr High 8th Grade Trip

May 3-5th, 8th grade students who signed up for a field trip to Washington DC explored many of the historic sights the city had to offer. Students and chaperones stayed three days and two nights in our nation’s capital. Included in the activities were visits to the Lincoln, Jefferson, Martin Luther King Jr., and Roosevelt Memorials, the WWII, Korean and Vietnam War Memorials, and the 9/11 Pentagon Memorial. Students visited the National Archives which is the original Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. Tours of the Capitol Building, George Washington’s house-Mount Vernon, and Ford’s Theater were included. Students were able to explore the Smithsonian Natural History and American History Museums. During the visit, the students watched the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.
