WHS Principal, Sara Ramsey

Meet the New Waverly High School Principal, Sara Ramsey

The Class of 2027 will not be the only new faces at Waverly High School this year, Principal Sara Ramsey will start her first year at the high school. Former high school principal Joel Shepherd is moving to Waverly Intermediate, and Ramsey is looking forward to making the transition from Waverly Primary.

“I love what high school can be for an individual, it’s a time to begin to find your direction, follow your interests and being able to make choices for yourself that reflect who you really want to be and what you want for your life,” said Ramsey. “I truly feel that education changed the trajectory of my life and I know the potential for that to happen for others is there. I am excited to be able to help students in that decision-making process and watch them grow as individuals.”

Ramsey, a Waverly High School graduate, earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, Master’s in Educational Administration, as well as her Superintendent Licensure all from Ohio University. She is also the mother of two Waverly graduates and her two youngest children attend Waverly High School and Waverly Junior High.

When she’s not in the office Ramsey enjoys reading, running, spending time outdoors, and loves a good home improvement project.

“Waverly is a great place to be, there is a certain sense of community that can be felt in a small town that is hard to find elsewhere,” said Ramsey.” As a graduate of the district I feel that my education prepared me for life beyond high school.”
