A Message from the Waverly City Schools Board of Education

This week, the Waverly City Schools Board of Education voted to place another operating levy on the November ballot.

We know many members of our community voted no in May, and we heard the concerns that were shared. Since then, the Board and administration have continued looking for ways to reduce expenses and lower the request to taxpayers.

Since the May election, the district has made approximately $1.6 million in spending reductions. The proposal on the November ballot reflects those changes. It is a 0.5% traditional income tax for 5 years, representing a lower tax rate than the previous request.

We understand that not everyone will agree with this decision, and we respect that. Our commitment is to be open and transparent about why the Board believes this levy is necessary and to answer questions honestly along the way.

Over the coming weeks, we'll be sharing more information about the district's financial situation, the changes made since May, and what this proposal would mean for our schools and our community. We hope you'll take a few minutes to learn more before casting your vote in November.
