The Waverly High School class of 2023 are now Waverly alumni, and this fall many of them will be starting the next chapter of their education with thousands of dollars in local scholarships and awards from their chosen university.
This year’s graduating class earned a total of $1,653,699 in scholarships. Of that total, more than $333,000 was won from the various local scholarships.
“So many organizations, businesses, and individuals are dedicated to helping our students reach their goals through these local scholarship programs. The community support for our students is outstanding,” said Waverly City Schools Superintendent Bill Hoover. “Our students have spent the last four years working towards their educational goals, and it is wonderful to see so many rewarded for their hard work.”
This year, 34 students graduated with high honors and another 35 graduated with honors. In addition, more than 50 students earned service cords.
“The class of 2023 is made up of a group of excellent students with so many making their mark through academics, art, music, and athletics over the past four years,” said Hoover.” We wish the class the best of luck as they prepare for the next step.”
