Beginning today, January 21, masks will temporarily be required at all WCS events. Currently, Pike County is at the top of the list for positive cases per capita. This requirement will hopefully help reduce the spread in our community, as well as, our school community.

At Waverly City Schools, our number one priority is to have in person learning. Although these calamity days have helped our staffing issue, it still remains somewhat of a problem at this time. In order to hopefully help with the spread, get our staff healthy and after reviewing the weather report for tomorrow, Waverly City Schools will be closed Thursday, January 20th and Friday, January 21st. Students and staff will return on Monday, January 24th and masks will remain required next week. We will also extend the 2nd nine weeks until January 28th in order to give students an opportunity to complete school work. Thank you for your understanding.

This past week has been very difficult at Waverly City Schools. Staffing has been a major issue, and our number one priority is to have in person learning. However, this is hard to do without staff. Our Covid numbers have been rising each day. In order to hopefully help decrease the spread, get our staff healthy and deep clean the buildings, Waverly City Schools will be closed Tuesday, January 18th and Wednesday, January 19th. Students and staff will return on Thursday, January 20th and masks will remain required for this week. We will continue to monitor our staff and student attendance rates. Thank you for your understanding.

It is the goal of Waverly City Schools to be in school with students learning in the classroom. We are currently monitoring numbers for COVID-19 in the county and will continue to do so daily. At this time, students will return to school tomorrow, January 4th, but masks will be required this week for staff and students. Communication with the Pike County Health District will continue daily to review positive cases in our school district. The district will reevaluate our plan for next week regarding in-person learning and the mask requirement. If numbers continue to rise, the plan may be reevaluated sooner. Please continue to monitor your childrenā€™s health each day before sending them to school. If symptoms are present, please keep them home. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
